ANGEL PROGRAM

It is the blessings of the kind hearted individuals who give back
meaning to the lives of so many horses . . . .

Horses featured on this page are horses needing a few special angels in their life. Some are in quarantine/rehabilitation while others have been placed into sanctuary due to age or medical conditions. Notations are made in their descriptions.

Angels are that certain special someone(s) that help provide us with items the horse may need while in our care. It can be the purchase of a new halter, a tube of wormer, a bag of feed, medical supplies, etc or a monetary donation made in the name of the horse you would like to help. All donations received go to the horse you have chosen to take under your wing.

Visits are encouraged to the horse you would like to help! If a horse is in quarantine, we will notify you when this horse is available to accept visitors.

A WALK IN THE CLOUDS "SKYE"

STATUS: SANCTUARY

SKYE IS IN NEED OF ANGELS TO HELP WITH THE COST OF HIS CANCER MEDICINE AND FEEDING COSTS!

He LOVES having visitors! Please remember if visiting Skye, he CANNOT have whole carrots or apples - shredded carrots, finely chopped apples, applesauce or horse cookies are fine! If you have any questions on what he can/can't have, please contact us!

Skye and May.                                    Mister and Skye playing in the snow.        Skye in his younger days.

Skye is a 19 Y/O Warmblood cross gelding. He led an amazing career in the Hunter/Jumper world, but an injury to his suspensory ended his phenomenal career.  He was donated into our program in hopes he could be fully rehabilitated and adopted into a new home. While in our care, he had unexplained weight loss and our vet referred us to New Bolten. We received the devasting news that Skye has Cancer. He has been placed in BITS Sanctuary so he can continue to receive the treatment he needs.

Earlier this year, Skye had an episode of choke and then stress induced colic and within a few days, pneumonia set in from him aspirating into his lungs. It was determined that he does now have a tumor in his esophagus. Although no longer able to have whole carrots or apples, we see to it that Skye receives his favorite treats by way of shredding the carrots and serving him up applesauce.

We are happy to report that Skye is doing very well at this time but will remain in BITS Sanctuary for life. He also is gaining much needed weight using Blue Seal Lifetime and Performance.

He will quickly steal your heart and is definitely one of favorites here with our volunteers!

Please consider becoming an Angel to Skye to help him with his needs!
