Meet Our Board Of Directors . . . . . . .

Our Board Of Directors have all been chosen to represent BITS because of their passion for horses and strong beliefs in what our organization represents. We volunteer countless hours of our time to make our program a great success. The Board Of Directors meets monthly to discuss strategies to help our organization grow so we are more able to save and protect horses in need.

 Joni Fink

   Executive Director

Joni was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania.  Having been bitten by the "horse bug" at a very young age, she brings well over 30 years of horse experience and knowledge to the BITS program.  She enjoys teaching children (and adults) riding skills, proper horse care and horse management. She is looking forward to working with the Directors, Volunteers and Public on several achievable goals that have been set for improvement within the program.

After serving several years as a volunteer EMT and firefighter, a newspaper reporter, hairstylist and chef, she "retired" from the hectic life and now devotes all of her time to her family and animals.  The past few years she has become very active in rescuing horses from slaughter and retraining them into new careers.  She is very proud to say that her three daughters are following in her footsteps for her love of horses.  In her "spare" time she enjoys gardening, cooking, photography, and antiquing.

                                                                                                                 Ted Fink

                                                                                                       Treasurer/Secretary

Ted was born in Virginia, raised and lived in upstate New York most of his life.  In 1998 he met Joni and moved to Central Pennsylvania after being infected with her passion for rural living, horses and country music.  She had a dream of having her own horse facilities, so after getting married, Ted bought a small farm and began to learn the love of horses.

Ted came to the BITS program as treasurer in late 2006 because he shares Joni’s beliefs in this group’s mission and wants to help make a difference for horses that need new homes, careers, or rehabilitation.

Ted’s career has focused on computer networks and technology support, and he has a working knowledge of taxes and accounting. His favorite credentials include building a larger horse barn and becoming a pretty good stable hand.

Ashley Bachman

Director of Special Programs

Ashley has a very deep passion for horses. At the young age of 12, she gained full time employment at a very well known Eventing/Training facility in South Eastern PA. Having this wonderful opportunity gave her great knowledge of the horse world and skills she is glad to put to use at our facility! She is the proud owner of "Chance", an Appendix Quarter Horse gelding who is her best friend!

Having several years of show and training experience, she excels at working with our beginner riders and enjoys teaching them the essential skills necessary for continued success in riding. She also enjoys keeping the horses at our facility exercised and training them into new careers. She is a great asset to our organization and BITS is very fortunate to have her aboard!
